Work out your BMI
BMI stands for Body Mass index. Its another way for you to see if you are in the safe weight range. Body mass index (BMI) closely correlates with body fat and can help predict the development of health problems related to excess weight.
Just put in your height and weight below and let the calculator work out your BMI.
If you would like to know how to calculate your BMI manually just follow these three steps.
- Work out your height in metres and multiply the figure by itself.
- Measure your weight in kilograms
- Divide the weight by the height squared (ie. the answer to Q1.) For example you might be 1.6m (5 feet 3 inches) tall and weigh 65kg (10 stone). The calculation would then be:
1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56. BMI would be 65 divided by 2.56 = 25.39.
Once you have worked out your BMI have a look at the chart below and see where you are.
